Plot – US President James Marshall is preparing to return home together with his wife and daughter aboard Air Force One. He has just closed a press conference in Moscow, in which he told Russian diplomats that he will no longer tolerate human rights violations like those perpetrated by General Radek - head of one of the post-Soviet states who has just been arrested. Shortly after the takeoff, the plane is hijacked by a group of Radek's loyal followers, who demand the release of their leader and threaten to kill the passengers one after the other, if their demand is not met. In Washington, Vice President Bennett does not seem to be able to deal with them. Therefore Marshall, who at first was believed dead, begins a slow confrontational action with the terrorists. Some hostages die, Radek is released but then killed, Marshall and Korshunov, the terrorist leader, come to a showdown. The courage of the president is rewarded.
