Plot – Vole is an English gentleman charged of murder. A rich widow has just deceased and Vole seems to be the heir of her heritage, moreover his wife Christine's ambiguous behaviour gets the situation even more delicate. A famous lawyer, Sir Wilfred Roberts, is interested in the case and thinks Vole is innocent so he takes his defense. During the trial, Sir Roberts invalidates indeed any accusations but Christine's deposition ruins everything and the lawyer is now in great peril too. Before the final hearing, a mysterious woman gives him some Christine's letters which accuse the woman to have hatched a trap to her husband. Vole is acquitted but the twists are not finished yet.
