Plot – Randolph and Mortimer Duke are two financiers of Philadelphia. Louis Winthorpe III, the manager of their company, is engaged to their grand-niece Penelope. When the two meet Valentine, a poor man, they decide to make an experiment: the homeless will live at Winthorpe's and will do his job, while Louis will end on the road, abandoned to himself.
