Plot – The Breadwinner is a 2017 animated drama film based on the best-selling novel by Deborah Ellis. It centers the life of Parvana, a 11-year-old girl who lives in Kabul under the Taliban's Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. One day her father gets unjustly arrested and because the Taliban forbids women from going out without a male relative, Parvana's family is left without the means to support themselves so she is forced to disguise herself as a boy in order to provide for her family.
