Plot – New York, 1841. Solomon Northup is a young African-American violinist who's approached by two men who pretend to be circus promoters. However he's taken to Washington where he's beaten and drugged, then he is sold as a slave and sent to work in the cotton fields in Louisiana. His sufferings last 12 years, during which he faces violence, starvation, hard work and humiliation. He will be saved by a chance meeting.
