Plot – A huge asteroid, big as Texas, is heading toward Earth at a speed of 22,000 miles per hour. The Executive Director of NASA, Dan Truman, decides there is no choice: a crew must be sent to destroy the asteroid. NASA decides to entrust the mission to Harry S.Stamper, the greatest expert on oil drilling in the world. Harry’s crew is formed by a group of friends who he blindly trusts. The aim is to land on the asteroid, perforate the surface and place a nuclear bomb into the well. After a period of hard training, the crew is ready to take off. During the trip, unforeseen physical and psychological problems make the mission even more complicated. Just as they think they have achieved their aim, a new threat looms over their goal. The bomb is finally triggered, but one of them must stay on the asteroid to arm it. Harry replaces the designated man and sacrifices. The bomb explodes, the asteroid disintegrates and Earth is saved. Harry gave his life to save humanity.
