Plot – During the reign of Tiberius in Jerusalem, Messala is the head of a Roman legion and imprisons and enslaves the nobleman Ben Hur, his former friend. Ben Hur is carried on a Roman galley and during a battle he saves the commander Quintus Arius' life and he's freed. After some time, Ben Hur comes back to Palestine to look for his family and pay the bill. He challenges Messala in the chariots race and, after an overwhelming victory, he leaves his opponent wounded to the ground. Before dying, Messala tells Ben Hur his mother and his sister aren't dead, but have been exiled in the Valley of the Lepers. Esther, the woman who has never stopped loving Ben Hur, convinces him to look for them and bring them to Jesus of Nazareth, who's said to have healing powers. The group arrives in time only to see Jesus dying on the cross. Then the sky darkens and the two women suddenly heal.
