(1996)Plot – In 1989 England, the closure of the mines in Yorkshire produces devastating effects in small towns. The Grimley Colliery Band, in which many miners play, has a centennial tradition and becomes the bulwark of the community. Its leader Danny, a retired miner, has made it a way of life while many of its member, now unemployed, are not able to share his enthusiasm and are thinking of giving it up. One day young Gloria, Danny's granddaughter and the first love of Andy – one of the musicians - returns to town. Gloria joins the band and excitement is back for all.
