Plot – The film's title, “Bridge of Spies”, refers to a real bridge in Berlin which once connected the east and the west and now is known as the Glienicke Bridge. The nickname comes from the fact that it was often the scene of prisoner exchanges between the American intelligence services and those of East Germany. “Bridge of Spies” tells the story of James Donovan, a prominent attorney in Brooklyn who finds himself at the center of the Cold War when the CIA hires him for an almost impossible task: negotiating for the release of a US pilot, Francis Gary Powers, shot down in the skies of the Soviet Union as he was flying aboard a U2 spy plane.
