Plot – Cyrano de Bergerac is a cadet of Gascony, admired and feared for his unerring sword and his witty sharp sayings. However, he has a monstrous nose and does not dare to declare his love to his cousin Roxane. She, unaware of his cousin's feelings, begs him to protect the young Christian de Neuvillette, who she is in love with. As Christian can not express his feelings in beautiful words, Cyrano suggests them to him and makes sure that he marries Roxane, in spite of Count de Guiche, who is also in love with the woman. The angry Count quickly moves Christian and Cyrano to fight at the front. Hence, Cyrano starts writing numerous passionate poetic letters to Roxane on behalf of Christian, keeping this secret for himself even when the young man dies fighting. Fourteen years later, back from a hospital, Cyrano visits Roxane, who has withdrawn to a life in a religious community, and during her conversation with the dying Cyrano, a desperate Roxane learns the story of his silent love for her.
