Plot – October 2, 1988. It is a day like any other in the disenchanted life of Donnie Darko. He has taken his medications, he has watched the presidential debate on TV and he has dinner with the family. Suddenly a terrifying incident happens: inexplicably, the engine of an airplane falls from the sky, crashing on the house of the Darkos and destroying the room of Donnie. After the accident, which nearly killed him, Donnie experiences a higher sense of what it means to be alive and also to be loved. Soon Donnie discovers his own skills of unraveling the wires that hold the universe together, simultaneously to the temptation to change time and destiny. The extraordinary smart and sleepwalker Donnie takes his anti-psychotic pills randomly, he suffers from frequent hallucinations and receives regular visits by Frank, a merciless supernatural presence that warns him: the world as Donnie knows will end in 28 days.
