Plot – It's 1945, World War II is about to end and Japan has just surrendered to the United States. General Douglas MacArthur is the supreme commander of the occupation forces and the interim President of the nation. General Bonner Fellers has to decide the fate of Emperor Hirohito and the possibility of hang him as a war criminal. His choice will be influenced by Aya, a young Japanese girl who Fellers has met long before in the US and with whom he has fallen in love.
