“Gardens of Stone” quotes
(1987)Plot – A special military unit stationed at Fort Myer in Virginia is appointed as honor guard for the funerals of the fallen during the Vietnam War. Members of the prestigious "Old Guard" are two veterans, the NCOs Clee Hazard and Goody Nelson, longtime friends and both veterans of three wars. They are both highly decorated, always impeccable, but disappointed. They follow, with increasing affection, the first steps of recruit Jackie Willow. This young man believes in certain values; he is more than efficient but despite the cautionary coffins and the opposition of his wife Samantha Davis, he dreams of leaving for Vietnam. Willow's body will also return to Arlington from Vietnam and it will be up to Sergeant Hazard, this time with tears in his eyes, to say a few words in the young's man memory.
