Plot – Scarlett, the daughter of a wealthy landowner, loves Ashley, but he prefers his cousin Melanie. The girl accepts to marry a suitor who dies of rubella as soon as the War of Secession breaks out. Scarlett’s family and property perish because of the conflict, so she has to move to Melanie’s house in Atlanta, the city set on fire by the victorious Northerners. At the end of the war, she finds the adventurer Rhett, enriched and still willing to take care of her.
