Plot – The brilliant Dr. Ryan Stone is on her first space mission, while the astronaut Matt Kovalsky is on his last flight before retirement. What for them was supposed to be a routine spacewalk turns into a catastrophe. The shuttle is destroyed and they find themselves in the universe's deafening silence. Floating in the dark and devoid of any contact with Earth, they apparently have no chance to survive considering that they are also running out of oxygen. Perhaps the only hope left to return home is to go out into infinite space.
