Year 1982
Director Tommy Lee Wallace
Genre Sci-Fi, Horror, Mystery
Plot – Dr. Daniel Challis, who is in the midst of a family crisis, is the doctor on duty in an American hospital and is caring for a dying man who has been attacked by strange people. The sick man says mysterious words and is killed during the night. Daniel and Ellie Grimbridge, daughter of the dead man who sold toys, want to discover the killers. The two track down an ambiguous factory of monstrous masks, which are touted non-stop on television at an obsessive rhythm to invite buyers to take part in a big Halloween costume party, which will take place on the night of November 1. The two arrive in the factory town, Santa Mira, where factory owner Conal Cochran reigns supreme over the inhabitants, lives shrouded in mystery and has some very suspicious people at his service. Other horrible murders are committed and the victims are people who are either too curious or too free in their speech. The masks, which are intended for millions of children to wear them happily and eager to have fun, undergo a strange process in the factory. Daniel and Ellie learn that Cochran's attendants are nothing but faithful robots and that the masks, at a certain time during a given television program, will give a terrifying death with a special device to all the children wearing them, thus renewing some archaic sacrificial rites. The owner of the factory tries to kill Daniel and Ellie, but Daniel will prevent the catastrophe in a surprising way.
