Plot – Hedwig Schmidt is a transsexual rock singer born in East Berlin. He falls in love with Luther, an American soldier, and decides to undergo an operation to become a real woman and leave Germany. Unfortunately things don't go as expected as Hedwig finds herself living alone, divorced, in a caravan in Kansas. She decides to form a rock band, the 'Angry Inch', with whom she performs in a series of concerts. One day Hedwig meets Tommy, a seventeen-year-old boy, and falls in love instantly with him. She teaches him all about rock and roll and gives him the stage name of Gnosis: shortly after, he leaves her and steals all her songs thanks to which he will become famous.
