Plot – Newton Davis, a famous architect who lives in Boston, is in love with Becky and to propose himself he has built the house of her dreams in Dobbs Mill, New England, the town where they both were born. Becky refuses to marry him and Davis returns to Boston leaving the house empty without selling it. Three months later, participating to a dinner in a restaurant, Newton meets a lively waitress, Gwen, who later agrees to take a walk with him. Surprised by a violent rain, the two take refuge in Gwen's nearby house and spend the night together. The next morning when she wakes up, the woman finds herself alone in the bed as Newton has left her without saying anything. Unfortunately he has forgotten there the Dobbs Mill house's project and Gwen, disappointed, decides to settle herself there. When she visits Dobbs Mill, she pretends to be Davis' wife with the shopkeepers and his parents, Edna and George, who welcome her affectionately.
