Plot – Eddie Hawkins - also known as Hudson Hawk - is released from prison after serving ten years for theft and decides to avoid putting himself in the position of having to go back to prison. That's not easy for a man considered to be the greatest cat burglar in the world. He is greatly feared, but also admired for his expertise and he is therefore highly demanded by those planning a heist. It will not take long before a couple of elegant criminals, Darwin and Minerva Mayflower, turn to Eddie. The couple is eager to find a machine capable of turning lead into gold, using solar energy and alchemical salts. They turn to Eddie not only flattering him as the best of professional thieves around, but also threatening the life of Eddie's most trusted friend Tommy, in the event the "magician of theft" refuses to pull off the caper. Forced to face the mysterious and beautiful Anna Baragli, said to be a nun, and fearing to loose loyal Tommy, Eddie is induced to return to his dangerous profession, finding himself in the most daring of adventures, in order to satisfy the "wishes" of his enemies.
