Plot – Abe Lucas, professor of Philosophy, is emotionally drained and unable to give a meaning to his life. Shortly after his arrival as a new teacher at the college in a small town, Abe finds himself involved in the lives of two women: Rita Richards, a lonely professor who hopes that he will save her from her unhappy marriage, and Jill Pollard, her best pupil who is also her best friend. The case becomes more intriguing when Abe and Jill find themselves eavesdropping on the conversation of a stranger and getting entangled in it. At the same moment Abe decides to make a delicate choice, he immediately turns to embrace life. However, his decision triggers a chain of events that will influence forever his own life and the lives of Jill and Rita.
