(1995)Plot – Ochopee, Florida. Charged with the rape and brutal murder of little girl Joanie, black student Bobby Earl Ferguson is sentenced to death. After eight years in prison, he sends his grandmother Evangeline to a famous criminal law professor at Harvard, Paul Armstrong, to have him intervene. At first not interested, Armstrong is convinced by his wife Laurie, a lawyer in a trial where Bobby was already involved, to accept the case. The local police, black agent Tanny Brown and his white colleague Wilcox, who tortured and intimidated Bobby to induce him to confess, are hostile to Armstrong, who, however, discovers during his investigation that the prosecution is based on a single witness and a general dislike of the young man.
