Plot – Police officer Mark McPherson is called to investigate the death of Laura, who was shot in the face with a shotgun. Among others, McPherson questions the fine journalist Waldo Lydecker, partner and protector of the victim, and suspects Shelby of murder, a man with a dodgy past that Laura had decided to marry. However Laura reappears, so the homicide victim was not her.
