Plot – A young novelist, Richard Hartland, is approached by a beautiful and rich heiress, Ellen Berent, on a train. Soon, she falls in love with him and leaves her boyfriend, a jurist that travels often, and decides to marry Richard. Even though the mother and the half-sister of the girl try to warn Richard about Ellen's possessive behavior, he cannot resist her charm and the two get married a few days after they have met. Their marriage appears to be happy but soon enough Ellen is overcome by an unstoppable jealousy that brings her to kill everyone she identifies as "rivals" in her relationship with Richard, even her own son. Ellen is intentioned to kill herself but before doing so she plans to make another victim.
