Plot – Carl Brashear doesn't allow anything to hinder his dreams. Son of a Kentucky farmer, Carl leaves his home in search of a better life and joined the Navy, which recently opened to ethnic minorities. Carl writes for two years over a hundred letters to be accepted in the School Sub program, but the officer instructor, Billy Sunday, doesn't want to hear anything about Carl or his ambitions. Sunday, a famous diving officer chief instructor, challenges and pursues Carl mercilessly, expecting him to throw in the towel, but Carl's determination is unshakable: nothing will hinder his dream, not even Sunday himself. Years later, after an accident occured to Carl has left him invalid, he and Sunday have to unexpectedly join their forces.
