Plot – Ellis and his friend Neckbone meet Mud by chance. He's a fugitive and he's hiding on a little island on the Mississippi. Mud has a snake tattooed on his arm and carries a gun. Despite this, Ellis thinks he's an opportunity to flee from his family, so the two boys help Mud to fix a boat, then they leave the island, but soon they begin to question their new friend's reliability.
