“New Jack City” quotes
(1991)Plot – Nino Brown, an ambitious black gangster, transforms an old building inhabited by black people into the headquarters of a manufacturing and smuggling crack trade, the poor poeple's favourite hallucinogen. While Nino's affairs thrive, Lieutenant Stone instructs Scotty Appleton, a black policeman whose mother has been killed by a junkie, and Nick Peretti, a former drug addict now rehabilitated, to get evidences to charge Brown. Scotty contacts a crack addict, Pookie, and forces him to a detoxification therapy to use him as a bait to record all Brown's activities. Unfortunately Pookie doesn't manage the situation and ingests the little camera, getting discovered by the gangster. In vain the cops burst into the building, but Nino destroys all the evidences and kills Pookie. Relieved by the task, the two agents continue their own fight against the boss who meanwhile has eliminated his Mob rival Don Armeteo. Scotty makes friendship with Gee Mony and is hired as supplier, managing to conquer Nino's confidence. While Scotty is going to frame the gangster, the agent is recognized and a furious conflict follows but everyone survives. Finally Scotty and Nick overcome their initial mistrusts, locate the boss' shelter and arrest him. During the trial Nino negotiates and he's granted a mild sentence. Leaving the courthouse, Nino gets killed by an old black patriarch who mortally hates the boss because his drugs have ruined so many guys.
