Plot – Susan Morrow is an art dealer from Los Angeles who lives a comfortable yet dull life with her husband Hutton Morrow. While Hutton is away for the weekend, Susan finds an unexpected parcel in her mailbox: it's a novel called "Nocturnal Animals", written by her ex-husband Edward Sheffield, who Susan hasn't seen in years. With the novel also came a note, which tells Susan to read the book and call Edward during his visit in town. The same night, Susan reads the book and realises that it's dedicated to her, but the contents are really strong and violent. Pleased by the reading she starts thinking about the most intimate moments of her relationship with Edward. Susan understands that the book is a form of revenge that forces her to rethink her decisions and wakes in her the power of loving.
