Plot – Trevis lives with his family in a farmhouse near the wood. The boy finds a dog and he calls him Old Yeller, who reveals to be so lively that Trevis would get rid of him, but the dog saves his little brother from a bear, so Trevis changes his mind. The boys and the dog become best friends and the animal helps them in their chores, but one day Old Yeller is seriously injured. In town the rabies arises and the dog is isolated as a precaution. Unfortunately the poor animal gets ill and Trevis is forced to shoot him. The boy suffers and a friend gives him a puppy, the son of Old Yeller.
