Plot – Philomena is a 2013 film based on the 2009 book The Lost Child of Philomena Lee by journalist Martin Sixsmith. It is based on the true story of Philomena Lee's 50-year search for her son and Sixsmith's efforts to help her find him. Philomena Lee had her son taken away when she was a teenage inmate of a Catholic convent. Martin agrees to help Philomena look for her son, and the trail takes them to the United States, and brings them face-to-face with some long-buried secrets.
