Plot – The mayor of an American city issues an extravagant announcement: anyone, regardless of colour, gender, height or weight, can attend a fourteen-week course at the Local Police Academy. A large number of candidates comes before the good-natured captain Lassard and the cynical and steely Lieutenant Harris, who begins training with very strenuous workouts, is resolved to send everyone home. Young Mahoney immediately proves to be a tough cookie; he got himself known in the city for some accidents and a police officer, a friend of his father, got him admitted to the Academy to keep him out of prison. Despite all of his best efforts, however, the man cannot get himself thrown out of school; moreover, he falls in love with another student.
