Plot – Andie Walsh lives in poverty with her unemployed father Jack. In her sparetime she works for a company to save money. Her school is attended by rich, vicious and arrogant students and she is often humiliated by her classmates due to her kinky apparel. On the other hand, she is persistently but unsuccessfully courted by Duckie, a poor guy that she considers only a friend. When Blane notices her, a rich guy that appreciates and respects Andie for what she is, he challenges his old friends and school's stereotypes by inviting her to the prom. Blane himself will remain speechless in front of the girl's elegant look as she shows off herself in a "pretty in pink" style and everyone envies her.
