Plot – "The Kid" is a young black singer backed by an orchestra of friends, who believe in his talent, and by a couple of willing girls who work with him in the performances, dancing in nightclubs. This nighttime life is followed by a domestic daytime, during which the guy is oppressed by his quarrelsome and abusive parents. He meets Apollonia, a singer too, and he feels attracted to her but his arrogant ways induce the woman to perform with the rival funk band led by Morris, who flaunts his victory in a contemptuous and provocative way over Kid. His career appears in decline, meanwhile another fight between his parents ends up with his father's accidental death and determines Kid's almost definitive defeat. During a period of reflection in his house's basement, Kid discovers the father's scores - he was a failed musician - which restores his spirits and makes him find inspiration and imagination, restoring success and love too.
