Plot – Photojournalist Jeff is immobilized at home because of a broken leg and he has to deal with the rude nurse Stella and his girlfriend Lisa, eager to marry him. Jeff monitors the lives of his neighbors from the window to distract himself. He notices that a woman has mysteriously disappeared. Therefore, he becomes a detective. The woman's husband, a traveller salesman, is the main suspect. Here Grace Kelly, radiant and lively, is at the height of her beauty. The story, which ends with a growing rhythm, takes place in a building rebuilt entirely in the studio: the technical skills allow the director to show all his experience in balancing the movements of the characters and the camera in a perfect narrative device. Led by the hand of Hitchcock's brilliant narrative, the viewer becomes the witness of the various people who live in the building, in complete sympathy with Jeff, participating, helpless, to the dramatic ending.
