Plot – Covering the role of consultant to and mediator for a large business group that operates in the entertainment industry, successful lawyer Jack Moore arrives in China to complete negotiations regarding satellite communications. The task is very delicate, because it is the first time that China seems willing to sign a treaty of this type. After a day of work, Jack approaches a local girl in a night club and spends the night with her. The next morning he is awakened by the police: the girl's body is laying lifeless beside him. Arrested for murder and abandoned by his American colleagues, Jack is facing a death sentence. He can only rely on his court-appointed lawyer, the young Shen Yuelin, who advises him to plead guilty. However, Jack does not intend to accept and after many interviews he manages to convince Shen of his innocence, so she enacts every legal loophole to gain time and figure out what happened. Knowing his life is at risk, Jack manages to escape from prison to investigate and to slowly shed light on the incident. When he is caught again and he is back in the courtroom, Jack is finally able to prove the existence of a conspiracy designed to cover up the truth in which high-ranking representatives of the Chinese government are involved. Freed, Jack is accompanied to the airport by Shen with whom he has become friends.
