Plot – During the early years of the 19th century, Henry Dashwood dies, leaving his property to the son of his first marriage, John. He makes him promise to take care of his second wife and his three daughters, Elinor, Marianne and Margaret. Fanny Ferrars, John's wife, doesn’t like the good relationship between his brother Edward and the three Dashwood sisters, especially Elinor, who sympathizes with the young man. His cousin, Sir John Middleton, invites the relatives to Burton Cottage, near London. Elinor looks after the house and waits in vain for Edward’s promised visit; Marianne lives a passionate romance with the brilliant neighbor John Willoughby. However, Willoughby suddenly goes to London, leaving Marianne alone. The mother-in-law of Sir Middleton, the tabby Jennings, takes the three Dashwood sisters to London. Lucy Steele, a friend of her daughter, joins them and tells Elinor to be secretly engaged to Edward.
