Plot – "Silence" tells the story of two Portuguese missionaries who in the 17th century embark on a long and dangerous journey towards Japan to spread the Christian creed and to search for their mentor, Father Christovao Ferreira, who's gone missing. The movie is based on a novel by Shusaku Endo, written in 1966, and reflects on the spiritual challenge of the absence of God when humans are suffering.
