Plot – An average middle-class African-American family is struggling with the ritual that for forty years has marked the existence of its members: Sunday lunch, the occasion when the matriarch brings together her three daughters around a table to discuss their problems. Teri, the eldest daughter is a successful district attorney; Maxine, the second, is a housewife with a strong personality and no worries; the third, Bird, is newly-wed to a former convict. Then a serious disease strikes Mama Joe, stopping this ritual and undermining the very foundations of family life. However, the newest member of this large family will ideally take responsibility to carry on the inheritance of this precious convivial meeting.
