Plot – Lina is a shy rich girl. One day on a train she meets Johnnie Aysgart, a womanizer and a gambler. Despite being aware of his reputation, Lina falls in love with him and marries him, thus breaking with her family, who opposed the wedding. Johnnie does not change his lifestyle after the wedding and, after losing his job because of a petty theft, he starts a business with his friend Beaky. Lina suspects that Johnnie wants to get rid of Beaky to take over the company and Beaky actually dies while traveling with his friend. The film, taken from a novel by Francis Iles, remains one of Hitchcock's most classic creations.
