“The Avengers” quotes
(1998)Plot – London in the Nineties: the impeccable John Steed is called by the Department - the ultra secret national spy agency - to investigate some disturbing events that are occurring on British territory. The climate has gone mad, the bad weather is excessive: incredible snowstorms keep following one after the other, hail falls - the size of which has never been seen before - temperatures fluctuate wildly from scorching heat to freezing cold. Seeking whom could have worked out such a demonic plan, authorities focus on Sir August De Wynter, a rich, quirky and clever man formerly employed by the Department. On this mission Steed is assisted by the charming Emma Peel, who is a jujitsu champion as well as an expert on meteorology. The two soon realize that Sir August has set up a plan to extort money from countries in exchange for a sunny day. Steed and Peel, trying to ignore the attraction they feel for each other, also have to deal with some double agents in the Department. Peel finally manages to get into the secret laboratory of Sir August. Here a blizzard starts just as Steed, who has followed his colleague, tackles and kills Sir August. The storm is over, good weather is back in London and Steed and Peel celebrate with a toast.
