(1942)Plot – The famous orator Sheridan Whiteside is touring the American provinces for a number of conferences. One day he accepts the invitation of an Ohio family who admires him greatly and, along with his secretary Maggie Cutler, visits the Stanleys' home. Unfortunately, when he is about to cross the threshold, he slips on the ice and dislocates his foot. The injury forces him to stop in the house of his guests who, thanks to his extravagant and unkind behavior, quickly lose the esteem they had felt for him. When the doctor confirms that his foot is in place and that there is nothing serious, Whiteside decides to remain at the Stanleys' to try to derail the love story between his secretary and a young local journalist with playwright aspirations.
