Plot – The movie is set in the XVII century, in the Bostonian puritan society of the first British settlers. Hester Prinne is a young woman married to an old English scientist, captured by the Native Americans. While she waits for her husband to be freed, the woman commits adultery with a prelate and has a daughter from him. Therefore, the society condemns her to wear the red letter “A” knitted on her chest forever. However, Hester bravely refuses to reveal the name of the father of the baby.
