Plot – The movie is based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, in which a murderer escapes justice. Ripley is obsessively looking for love, but he manages to ruin his only opportunity to find it. Ripley takes the identity of someone else but he's sentenced to lose forever his real one because he preferes to mantain his fake identity rather than his real one. Ripley's adventures in Europe are a sort of punishment then.
